single: Solstice

BACK TO ALBUMS
Dana Al Fardan, Qatar’s first female composer and singer-songwriter, presents ‘Solstice’, an intense and profound song that grows increasingly epic as it’s swirling strings swell to its beats-cloaked climax. 'Solstice’ is the second single from the internationally acclaimed symphonic artist's forthcoming audio-visual album, INDIGO, due out in May 2022. The track was arranged by Syrian violinist and composer Maias Al Yamani, principal violist Giovanni Passini, and Sally Herbert (Florence & The Machine, Ellie Goulding), produced by SINK (Nico Dalla Vecchia), and features the Qatari Philharmonic Orchestra.

Throughout this project Dana has been progressively constructing a world that blends contemporary, western and neo-classical influences with the rich musical heritage and soundscape of the Middle East, utilising traditional instruments like the rababa (Arabic bowed string instrument) and the ney (wind instrument). The song itself was performed by the musicians of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.

The music video was curated by Director Ramy Dance and recorded at London-based production house, Common People Films, alongside Producer Jake River Parker and Executive Producer Tony Roberts.
